Breaking: Jos Prison Under Heavy Attack By Suspected Bandits (Video)

The Correctional Service Facility in Jos, the capital of Plateau State, is currently under heavy attack in the late hours of Sunday by suspected bandits.

The bandits were said to have pretended to be on a visit before they opened fire on reaching the gate of the correctional facility engaging police and other security officers in a heave gun battle.

The Jos Correctional Centre is in close proximity to the headquarters of the Plateau State Police Command as well as the Department of State Services (DSS).

Reports gathered says the Gunmen are trapped inside the Correctional facility after the attack.

They arrived at about 5;20pm local time, Sunday, although they gained entry into the facility they were trapped due to the immediate mobilization of neighboring security services for reinforcements.

The controller of corrections (PRO) released a statement saying that the situation is under control as the attackers firing power is being subdued by superior fire from a combined team of security agencies
